The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a highly motivated Post-doctoral fellow to join the group of Nereo Kalebic at the Centre for Neurogenomics at Human Technopole (HT).
Kalebic’s lab is focused on the molecular and cell biological mechanisms underlying human neocortex development and its implications for human evolution and neurodevelopmental disorders. We have recently found that the morphology of neural stem cells underlies their proliferative capacity and thereby regulates neocortex growth (Kalebic et al., Cell Stem Cell, 2019).
The post-doctoral candidate will be involved in understanding the mechanisms by which morphology of neural stem cells contributes to physiological and pathological development of the human neocortex. In our lab we take a multi-disciplinary approach combining multiple molecular and cell biological techniques, including live imaging and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing (Kalebic et al., EMBO Rep, 2016). We apply these techniques to a variety of model systems, including human samples and laboratory animals (mouse and ferret; Kalebic et al., eLife, 2018).
• PhD in neuroscience, molecular biology or closely-related disciplines obtained in the last 2 years or expected before the end of 2020.
• Strong interest in neocortex development and evolution.
• Fluency in English – HT is an international research institute.
To apply please provide the following:
• CV with a list of publications;
• A short description of previous and future research interests indicating the motivation to join the lab (1 page in total);
• Names and contacts of 3 referees.
HT offers a highly collaborative, international culture. The working language at HT is English. HT will foster top quality, interdisciplinary research by promoting a vibrant environment consisting of independent research groups with access to outstanding graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and core facilities.
HT is an inclusive, equal opportunity employer offering attractive conditions and benefits appropriate to a leading, internationally competitive, research organization and seeks to promote a collegial and open atmosphere.
Please note that researchers coming to Italy for the first time, or returning after residing abroad, benefit from very attractive income tax reductions.
General enquires concerning the role should be sent to Dr. Nereo Kalebic (email@example.com). Applications should not be sent to this address.
